In Parco Sempione in Milan there is an art exhibition by Pawel Althamer outside the exhibition stands one of the main attraction of the event a huge balloon in the form of a nude man.
it certainly grabs your attention while walking in the park.

Salone after thoughts

During the events of the Salone Del Mobile many car companies took advantage of the mass of people to present their latest models and joined the design hype.

This phenomenon could be seen in earlier years with BISAZZA and mini for example where they coverd the whole car in BISAZZA stone.

This year I saw events one by BMW and one by Hyundai both very elaborated clearly trying to show the connection between Design and the trade mark.

The BMW stand had a series of screens where one would see himself standing in front of the screen and then text messages would appear above your head and follow you.

Fuori Salone ZONA TORTONA

Zona tortona is one of the most interesting place to visit
for the events fouri salone (outside the salone)

In via tortona and its surrounding you can find all the main events of the fouri salone thrown together with artist, design schools and great Italian restaurants which makes a great night out withe a particular atmosphere.
We were visting from 19 to 22 and still didnt mange to see half of the events that took place in the area.

From our "on the fly" visit i was impressed from the BISAZZA stand inside SuperStudioPiu

Another place which is one not to miss is the TOKYO DESIGN which is a collection of designers from japan, some are big known names like Fujitsu together with young designers and artist it was an attack on all your senses walking in to that event.

SALONE DEL MOBILE 2007 MILAN

The salone del mobile in Milan,one of the biggest design events is opening tomorrow. The salone is held from the 18-23.
Aside from the main exhibition at the new fiera of Milan there are many events around the city Worth visiting, some of the events began already today and others are planed throughout the rest of the week these events usually start at 18 with cocktails and music.

In the next few days I will post more images from some of the events around the city and from the salone. The effects of the salone can be seen all around the city especially in the center and where the big furniture stores are located.
The image above is of one of the many cows from the Milan "cow parade".

If you are in Milan for the fiera do not miss the "cosmic magnet" in piazza duomo which is a huge skeleton statue.

Artificial intelligence or adobe illustrator, having a program influence a line of work might be wrong but working for years with graphic programs and with the computer will make you wonder about what lies behind every click.
This new line of illustrations was inspired by the program itself.

The thought of the math and calculations the program performs to allow me to draw the perfect curve that is in my minds eye.

computer design - coming out of the box

Computer boxes design has evolved from the first computers but we are still looking at boxes.

Looking at the evolution of computer cases I would have to say we didn’t come along way from the first models, you can clearly see the old form still in the new design.

It looks as if we are still walking on four (evolutionally speaking).

One of my favorite home made computers is this one made without a case at all.

The fast and furious style adapted by computers moders is clearly obvious I guess the people pimping their cars would pimp their computers also.

I think since a computer is found in every home now the style variations could be expanded much more, right now we have the gray office computer, pimp my CPU or the iwhite .

Now with Bluetooth tech and wireless control the computer could become more abstract and loose its box like shell.

...waiting for a better box..

I can make you a monster

The monster effect, you cant argue with the success that monsters had, from Frankenstein to Godzilla, people like to look in the face of horror maybe its just curiosity or maybe there is something more to it.

A quick look at Frankenstein from the composition point of view revels a character drawn in disproportion , Grotesque (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grotesque).

Looking back to the world of design there are many examples of industrial or architectonic products that were criticized as been ugly or monstrous. objects that where too big disproportioned or strange.

For example the Eiffel tower when constructed it was said the ugliest building in Paris and was also scheduled to be taken down.

The fiat Multipla although it was a successful car many regarded the car as strange and ugly saying the top and bottom parts did not match.

so design should be eye pleasing or should it be eye catching

From digital to canvas
Working on the computer does not have to limit a designers vision, especially when talking about interior design.
Since most of the time we spend in front of the computer working in digital it’s a great feeling seeing the transformation from digital to real.

The best example is our line of digital illustrations printed on canvas.
Transforming a blank wall or decorating an entrance with a custom made print can make all the difference. The unlimited control over color and position in vectorial manifested on the roughness of the canvas.

Design tip
Its good to start with a concept and then evolve with the composition
